I always have a container of simple syrup on hand. I use it to moisten and flavor cakes, to make compotes and sorbets and to create delicious cocktails.
Yield about 3 Cups
- 3 Cups Sugar
- 2 Cups Water
Stir the sugar and water over medium high heat until it comes to a boil.
Store in the refrigerator or freezer.
If you need the simple syrup in 15 minutes and your supply has run low, decrease the water by half and add a handful of ice cubes to the cooked syrup.
